Deer River Hospital & Surgical Expansion
Quality healthcare design, from the master plan to the final drawing
The Deer River HealthCare Center project includes many different components. After years of planning, the Center is underwent renovations to expand the hospital and services that follow an DSGW established campus master plan.
The Challenge
Create a healthcare environment to meet the growing medical needs of the region and match the exemplary reputation of the skilled staff of the Deer River HealthCare Center.
The Opportunity
The campus master plan, developed by DSGW Architects, provided the analysis and feasibility study that reinforced the value of constructing an addition to include hospital, surgical and staff spaces, while allowing the existing hospital and services to remain in full operation.
The size and location of the addition presented an opportunity to create a new entrance to the campus, and thus the ability to re-define the image and reinforce the reputation of health care at the Deer River HealthCare Center. Added services also provide additional resources for patient care and staff recruitment.
The Solution
Through the thoughtful attention in space planning, the use of natural materials, color selection and availability of natural daylight, the emphasis of the design was to create a healing environment for both patients and family.
By incorporating non-traditional elements into the design such as recessed patient room doorways, decorative bathroom fixtures and finishes and expanded patient and family amenities, the design fosters a calming healing environment with attributes which embrace a sense of hospitality that intentionally departed from the sterile design of traditional institutional facilities.
The addition provides a new experience for patients,
visitors and staff and truly supports the reputation and mission of the Deer River HealthCare Center.
