Amery Schools

A well-designed educational environment helps learning

Following the success of an addition to the High School, the Amery School District assembled a Design Build team for the development of their new intermediate school. Again, as part of this Design - Build team DSGW was involved in the early Pre-Referendum stages that helped investigate the pros and cons of new construction versus renovation of their existing facility. Working with the School Board and the Planning Committee, the decision to design and construct a new facility was successfully approved through public referendum.

The new intermediate school will include grades 3,4 and 5. Key elements to the design solution were the requirements of a ‘neighborhood’ concept for each grade level. The key to the success of the neighborhood concept was developing an area that was a true gathering spot for each grade level and not just an enlarged circulation space. This was achieved by separating the gathering area from the main circulation corridor by lockers.Included are a full complement of special resource classrooms including a skylit courtyard, music, art and science rooms, school administration offices and district administrative offices.
